Brief Career Outline
Ignacio E.
Olivares was born in Viña del Mar, Chile. The primary school was the Deutsche Schule,
Viña del Mar and the secondary the Deutsche Schule Valparaíso. He received the
ASIVA Distinction for beeing among the best results of the Prueba de Aptitud
Académica. He obtained the Licenciado en Física Degree and received First Class
Honours in the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and the Degree Magister
en Ciencias Exactas con Mención en Física at same University. Then he obtained
the Dr. rer. nat. at
the Fakultät für Physik und Astronomie der Ruhr Universität Bochum in West
Germany in 1992. He installed a tunable laser laboratory for demonstration
of lithium laser isotope separation at Comisión Chilena de Energía Nuclear. In
2006 he constructed a magneto optical trap at the Universidad de Santiago de
Chile. He is author of several scientific papers on plasma and laser
Doppler-free spectroscopy, and lithium isotope separation. The main skills are
related to optical engineering and design of electrooptical instrumentation
including laser diagnostics and cavities. At present, Ignacio E. Olivares is Assistant Professor at
the Universidad de Santiago de Chile and
Member of the Optical Society of Americadvisar
of the OSA Student Chapter Universidad de Santiago de Chile.
