Dr. Escrig obtained his doctorate degree in Physics from the University of Santiago de Chile. His doctoral studies in the area of ​​Nanomagnetism focused on the dipolar interaction between micro and nanometric magnetic systems. At the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics (Germany), he studied the magnetization reversal processes and hysteresis curves of magnetic nanowires and nanotubes, developing new theoretical methods. One of them is now used by various research groups around the world. In particular, he is a pioneer in the study of magnetic nanotubes, publishing more than 30 articles in the respective area. Not only that, but he also wrote the Physics Handbook chapter on magnetic nanotubes.
 
Currently, Dr. Escrig leads the Nanomagnetism Laboratory, which, on a national scale, has the unique equipment, allowing researchers to synthesize and characterize magnetic nanostructures with complex geometries. For example, his laboratory has been able to synthesize NiFe nanotubes and thin films for the first time using the ALD technique. His research efforts have allowed him to publish more than 115 WoS articles, which have received more than 2300 citations (currently H 26 index). In addition, he has submitted 5 patent applications, two of which have been granted.
 
In addition to teaching and research, Dr. Escrig was an active member of the Global Young Academy, a young researcher at the Chilean Academy of Sciences, the treasurer of the Chilean Physical Society and the director of the Fondecyt Theoretical and Experimental Physics Study Group. He has extensive experience in postgraduate programmes and currently has been appointed as Dean of the Faculty of Science.
