Marina Stepanova
Marina Stepanova started her career at one of the leading Space Physics research centers in Russia: the Skobeltsyn Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, where satellite instruments and fundamental discoveries had been made since the beginning of the space exploration era. Marina moved to Chile at the age of 28 and joined the Department of Physics of the University of Santiago in 1995, where she has built a strong collaboration with researchers from the USA and Russia. Her research interests lie in the area of astrophysical and space plasmas, focusing on the dynamics of the magnetosphere of the Earth and the Physics of geomagnetic storms and substorms. She specializes in the fundamental aspects of Plasma Physics, like turbulence and plasma equilibrium.
