HPC-Research Facility
The Department of Physics is installing the necessary computing capabilities to develop new and more complex research in the areas of Astrophysics and High Energy Physics, Biophysics, Biomedicine, Physics and Space Climate, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Information and Quantum Computing, and also in Granular systems and mining.
Advanced Material Development & Characterization Facility
Our academic unit is developing a platform for the manufacture and characterization of advanced materials with the aim of providing state-of-the-art equipment and knowledge to support interdisciplinary research in the field of science and engineering of materials with properties of interest in the energy areas. , soft matter, nanoscience-nanotechnology and quantum optics.
Clean Room Facility
The Clean Room of the Department of Physics offers a work space with a controlled atmosphere, facilitating the preparation of materials or work samples that require stricter control than in the case of an open atmosphere laboratory. The room has instruments and operation and monitoring protocols that increase the reproducibility of samples and research results.
Physalis: Digital and Mechanical Innovation Lab
The Physalis Fablab is part of the Department of Physics of the University of Santiago de Chile and was conceived to enhance the capacity of the members of the community to materialize scientific knowledge. Physalis is the right space to develop an idea and turn it into a physical prototype in a self-learning and cooperation environment open to the entire community.
